Paintball in Istanbul: A Team Activity for Companies and School Groups

Paintball is a group game in which two teams face each other on a dedicated field, using special guns that fire paint capsules and building their own strategy; it is a popular choice for companies wanting to strengthen team spirit, and for high school and university groups wanting to burn off energy together. Our programme lasts half a day: a safety briefing, full equipment and a team tournament of about an hour. The catalogue specifies a minimum group size of 18 to 20 people so that teams can be formed.
Why does paintball work as a team activity?
People who spend time together in an office or classroom often do not get the chance to see different sides of each other. The paintball field changes that balance:
- Quick decisions and communication: Giving your teammate short, clear information is the first rule of survival on the field.
- Roles: Some push forward, some cover from behind, some run the plan. The team's natural roles emerge on their own.
- Loosening hierarchy: In corporate groups, a manager and a new starter end up on the same team in the same helmet and camouflage.
- Shared memories: By the end of the tournament there are plenty of stories to tell, and they are retold at work or school for a long time.
What is in the programme?
The Paintball Event is a half-day programme lasting about four and a half hours:
- 09:00 Departure
- 10:00 Paintball field; briefing on using the gun and safety
- Tournament of about 1 hour
- Optional barbecue lunch (extra)
- 13:30 Arrival
Equipment
Each player is given full equipment consisting of camouflage, helmet, gloves, protective vest and gun. Protective gear is handed out at the field; you do not need to bring your own.
Safety briefing
Before the game begins, the use of the gun and the safety rules are explained. Basic rules are the same for everyone, such as never removing your helmet on the field, how to hold the gun in the safe zone and how to stop the game. Listening carefully to this briefing is the most important step, both for enjoying the game and for safety.
Tournament
A tournament of about an hour is played between the teams. Game formats and scenarios are set by the field operator.
Barbecue lunch
After the tournament, an optional barbecue lunch can be added. This is an extra service. Since the chat after the tournament is often the most enjoyable part of the day at corporate events, many groups take up this option.
Group size: why at least 18–20 people?
Because paintball is a team sport, it needs two balanced teams and the option of substitutes during play. That is why the catalogue specifies a minimum group size of 18–20 people. If your team is smaller, combining two departments or two classes can be a solution. For larger groups, the tournament format is planned together at the quote stage.
For school and youth groups
As the catalogue also notes, the programme is an activity that highlights teamwork for high school groups and university clubs. The age limit depends on the field operator's rules; please state the participants' age range in your quote request. Matters such as parental permission are also clarified at the quote stage.
If you are going with a school group, keep the following in mind:
- Send parents an information note that clearly explains the activity, the protective equipment and the safety briefing.
- On the permission form, ask for the information you need about the student's health.
- Check the current guidelines of your school and of the provincial/district directorate of national education on this type of activity in advance.
For all the permission and preparation steps for school trips, see our school trip checklist.
What to wear and what to bring?
- Spare clothes: Bring spares of both underwear and outer clothing. Paint capsules can leave marks on clothes, and you will sweat on the wooded terrain.
- Footwear: Boots or trainers suitable for wooded terrain.
- Jewellery and accessories: Take off accessories such as watches, bracelets and necklaces.
- Glasses: If you wear glasses, tell the field staff in advance.
- Water and a towel: Useful after the tournament.
Instead of paintball, or alongside it
If some of your team prefer a calmer activity, or you want to make a longer day of it, there are alternatives. One is Forest Istanbul adventure park, which combines individual courage and team support on tree-top courses. For a day centred on food and games that everyone can join, take a look at our class and company picnic article. For other programmes tailored to organisations, see our corporate page.
Review after the event
At corporate events, the conversation afterwards is as valuable as the game itself. Once the tournament is over, you can hold a short ten-minute review: Which moment made you smile most as a team? Why did the plan work, or not? These questions are an easy way to connect the experience on the field to communication and cooperation at work.
During the review, highlighting the moments of strong cooperation rather than the winning team serves the real purpose of the event.
