Countries

  • Georgia
  • Tbilisi old town and Narikala Fortress

Overlooking the city, the ancient Narikala Fortress is the symbol of Tbilisi, with its panoramic views and, on clear days, the Caucasus mountains in sight. The old town below is known for its narrow cobbled streets, houses with wooden balconies and centuries-old churches.

  • Abanotubani sulphur baths

The sulphur baths in Tbilisi's Abanotubani district are fed by hot springs which, according to legend, are as old as the city itself. Believed to have healing properties, these baths are a classic stop on an old town tour.

  • Mtskheta (Jvari and Svetitskhoveli)

The capital of the Kingdom of Kartli from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD, Mtskheta is known as the place where Christianity was declared the state religion of Georgia. The 6th-century Jvari Monastery and the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral were added to the UNESCO list in 1994.

  • Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Gergeti Trinity Church

Reached in about 3 hours from Tbilisi, Kazbegi is about 11 km from Georgia's northern border. The 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church stands on a hill in front of Mount Kazbek, Georgia's third-highest mountain.

  • Gudauri

On the road to Kazbegi, Gudauri is a winter sports centre known for skiing and snowboarding. In summer it is also used as a stop for views of the Caucasus.
